After traveling all the way to New York for a date only to have Usher call out sick, I was a little hesitant to get too excited about my date to John Mayer. I don't have much free time right now and if I'm going to give up study time, I really need it to take my mind off the fact that I really need to be studying. Well, this date was pretty smart in that he knew I hadn't seen my little sister since her wedding. So he gave tickets to Laurie and Jimmy as well as his roommate and his girlfriend. All the boys were fraternity brothers at Auburn which was nice because boys can be weird about meeting new boys AND being fun all in the same few hours.

Since my computer is jacked up, I couldn't download the new
cd on my
itunes. But I was able to find this
clever little site where you can listen to the whole John Mayer
cd as many times as you like. I absolutely love the new
cd. He is simply the most intelligent lyricist I've ever encountered. One song on the album, 'Stop this Train', is about growing older and wanting to pause but not being able to. I have recently been confronted with the idea that life is really happening. I've always had very old looking hands, but the thought
occurred to me while I was looking at them that they are just going to continue looking older. And I can't remember a time when I didn't have old lady hands but I'm sure they haven't always been wrinklely. POINT -- I can relate to that song. And he has one called 'Vultures' about dealing with the pressures of being an adult.

The concert was at
Chastain. It's this fabulous outdoor amphitheater here in Atlanta that everyone should have the opportunity to go to at least once. They have corporate tables on the floor and then a little further back are rows of tables and then further back from that are isles where only
tv trays fit. So you bring candles and food and it's just an experience! Tonight was the coldest night Atlanta has seen in months. We all snuggled under a big blanket and laughed and ate
Eatzi's (my favorite little grab-and-go restaurant) and sang at the top of our lungs and it was all just wonderful! And my date brought back a the softest brown John Mayer 2006 concert shirt from his coffee run. I can't remember the last time I wanted a concert shirt, but for some reason this one couldn't be more perfect. I'm wearing it to bed right now...
