New York, New York

So this guy, who I used to work with in Nashville who is a consultant from Chicago, travels through Atlanta a lot. And he's been asking me to dinner for weeks, but school has kept me too busy. He had mentioned that he would be in Manhattan a lot this fall for work and asked if I would come up there. Well, on the radio last month I heard announced that this guy (see pic below) would be staying on Broadway for 2 extra weeks in the play, Chicago. Well, since my friend was from Chicago and has already asked me to come to New York, I figured I had the first two weeks in October to make that trip happen. He got tickets for the 6th and it was a date!
The air was cool and crisp when I landed in New York Friday afternoon. The kind of evening that you know is going to bring about something HUGE! I arrived at the hotel to find my very own SUITE over looking Times Square.

So far this little date was ranking in my top 5! I changed into Laurie's little black sequin top and met him downstairs. We walked 3 blocks to the show. The line looked pretty long as we approached the theater. And the closer we got, I realized the line WAS long. I asked what was going on and everyone was very anxious to say that Usher had called out sick and they were exchanging their tickets for the afternoon show on the 7th. I was distraught! Knowing that we couldn't stay for the next performance, we got out tickets and the usher (noun - job title, not to be confused w/ noun - name) led us all the way down front to the 5th row center! AMAZING seats! That's just the kind of guy my date was...insanely kind and generous. The play was fabulous followed by an equally fantastic dinner at a little Italian restaurant that you've probably seen in a movie at some point because it was just that cute that I'm sure it was in a movie, at some point.

We got back to the hotel around midnight and said goodnight at the elevators. I got to my room on the 42nd floor and danced around my suite. Not so much jumping on the bed and spinning. I've never been a good dancer, but it makes me so happy to spin! I danced over to the window several times to remind myself that my date had in fact flown me to NYC and to a Broadway play and an Amazing dinner and now I was alone w/ my thoughts... So I threw myself into the big fluffy bed and fell asleep. I was in a cab back to the airport first thing the next morning. Kind of a crazy date!

My girlfriends were equally distraught that Usher had decided to take the evening off. Last week one of them sent me this explanation. Click here to read the article about Usher's "very bad case" of strep throat.
